I agree with that. A lack of special awareness is one of my top pet hates.
Never ceases to amaze me how some people appear to have a complete lack of it, eg. people who take a couple steps backwards without looking on a busy pavement...surely to God that sort of basic stuff should've been attained by 100% of the human race back in the Stone Age?

If you are ever feeling overwhelmed and powerless, maybe judging yourself too harshly, try this:
Sit in a comfortable chair or on the floor and bring your attention to how your body's gravity connects with the earth. Notice all the sensations in your body as you settle. Now notice your breathing and check it is in a comfortable pattern. Spend as long as you need for your breathing just to get natural as your body needs it to be. Stay in contact with your breathing and your gravity connection and then try this. Focus your mind's eye on your navel, then proceed down two inches and stop. Keep breathing and feeling the gravity connection. Now move your awareness two inches into your body towards the spine. Notice what happens when your attention rests in that spot. What thoughts come up? What needs do you become aware of? Do you need connection? Then feel connection. Do you need trust? Then feel the trust. Do you need kindness? Then be the kindness.
Meditation is just about getting in touch with the what is going on in there.
